Left Behind
They say we left
one of our own behind
In the Baghdad slum of Sadr City –
An area we cordoned off, confined:
The kidnappers' enablers found no pity.
Relations with the government were strained
As
checkpoints snarled Sadr City traffic –
About which al-Sadr loudly complained
Till Maliki appraised the demographic.
And knowing that he had a Devil's bargain
He chose to order our troops to desist –
Excuse it using diplomatic jargon,
But shouldn't all Americans be pissed?
That's an odd question but what is odder:
Have we emboldened
Muqtada al-Sadr?
