The Central Front

In this world lives no one free of all sin
And no one too depraved to find redemption –
To win we all must take the fight within
For no one has been granted an exemption.

We win their hearts and minds by our example,
By proving with our works we’re good and true –
We win no hearts by dropping a great sample
Of what our military might can do.

For when we give into evil’s temptation
Whether to torture or to turn our back
We ourselves spread terror’s infestation –
The central front’s inside, not in Iraq.

For terror hides not some spider hole,
But in each human mind and heart and soul.
