reefleckshuns of buddy don: bein sick

thay aint much of nuthin that kin focus yer mind on whuts importunt moren bein sick kin do. i aint talkin bout havin a cold, but bein sick in a way whar ye almost could wish twood jes be over.

last sundy mornin, i woke with that dam sensitivity in a streak on the lef hand side of my hed. about nine times outta ten that means i am a'gone git a migraine, startin with the vomitin kind n then goin who knows whar.

but as paneful as that spot mite git, taint no migraine n it dont even always mean a migraine is cummin on.

but whenever i woke up on mundy mornin, thay wudnt no more doubt possibull on a counta i had to vomit bout as quik as i gut to the bathroom to begin my mornin ablushuns. i couldnt fite the facks, speshly since miz bd could see i wuz sick, so i tuck the imatrex n tride to git thru the horribull day. miz bd dun everthang she could do, puttin me in a hematite grid, witch she makes me lie down n putts hematite on differnt ackupunkchur spots. i caint say that it makes thangs git better, but it do seem to stop em fer a bit.

even so, i wuz still so sick that i spent much of the day goin frum one place to a nuther, seekin a spot whar i dint feel the urge to vomit. fer sum reason, i git this urge to git down on my knees with my hed on the floor, as if that mite make thangs better.

but it dont matter whut posishun ye git in, witch purty soon i find myself in the same place: lyin ion a fetal posishun up in the bed, no sound allowd, pillers on each ear, almos holdin my breath n waitin fer the crisis to pass. i generly fall asleep n git up late in the evenin. furst thang miz bd asts me is ifn i am ok, witch i caint tell on a counta bein so tard.

innywho, nex day, same thang, vomitin befor i could barely git a'goin. it woke miz bd, so she putt me in the grid n then give me sum reiki, witch that made it so i dint run around trine to git in a posishun that woodnt hurt, but quik as she wuz dun, them symptums cum up jes as strong as befor.

but windsdy wuz a lil different n i caint hep but wunder bout them rebound migraines. i caint tell ifn thats whut twuz. i only know that at about the same point in my daily rooteen, i notissd sumthin bein in my eye. it tuck me a nuther twenty mints to real eyes thay wudnt nuthin in my eye but i wuz havin parshull blindness.

now the thang bout that parshull blindness, lack that sensitivity on my hed, is how it dont bother me that much. tiz gentle, if innythang. i jes caint bleeve it means i am a'gone have the horror of a migraine follerin after it. i also caint tell thats whut tiz rite away.

corse ye pay fer delay: once i tuck my medicine on windsdy (or thursdy when i almost gut out the door till miz bd notissd i wuz lookin strange or even fridy), twuz too late to avoid the pane, witch in my case, it starts rite at my lef eye n covers most of the lef hand side of my hed. tiz so distink that ye half to thank tiz sumthin rong in there, lack a tumor a'growin or sumthin.

whuts almost the wurst thang bout it is how once them docters figger ye git migraines, then they aint too upset over yer bein sick fer six n one half days in a row.

fack is, i dint git over the migraines till i went to see my ackupunkchurist, Christina Morris at Element Healing. she give me a early appointment on saturdy, furst day we could git together (her husbin had jes tuck her to paris fer her birthdy). bout as quik as she gut them needles in me, i gut to feelin better fer the furst time since sundy.

but i still felt on the edge fer the rest of the day. i couldnt reelax n feel good. thang is, ye git to whar yer in a constunt cringe, waitin fer the next blow to hit.

i wont bore ye with everthang ye thank bout while yer waitin fer the pane or the nausea to give ye a brake. i git deepressd, skeerd i will lose my job, skeerd i will have a stroke. odd thang is, i feel lack my hed is bout to eggsplode, but whenever miz bd takes my blood preshur, tiz on the low side, 90 over 56, witch that aint all that low fer me. but tiz odd how ye kin feel so differnt frum how ye are.

but the point is how ye go frum wurryin the furst day over deliverabulls ye gut at wurk to wurryin bout how minny days ye bin sick to wurryin bout whuther ye will ever be abull to wurk agin to whuther ye kin live thru it.

ye real eyes how most of the thangs ye wurry bout everday aint all that importunt cumparrd to livin n dyin n bein abull to hold yer hed up with yer eyes open in brite lite.

thar furst response wuz purty good: git into afghanistan to fite the taliban n reemove the sankchewairy whar osama n al qaeda wuz doin thar evil bizness of preparrin to attack us.

A Lesson Sublime

i reckun that thang i hate most bout them migraines i git is how they dont seem to pay no tenchun atall to my efforts to live thru em. ifn ye git the sniffles or allergies or even a stumach ache, ye kin grit yer teeth n git thru it.

yesterdy mornin i woke up at 2:30. thay wudnt no way to fall back to sleep so i gut up. ifn i wood add mitt it, i wood half to say i knew even then i wuz a'gone be sick. ifn i wood ackcept that, then i could take my medicin n call in sick n go back to bed.

but i caint bleeve the gentle beginnin of one of these attacks kin turn so ugly so fast. i went bout my mornin, couldnt hardly thank of nuthin to blog bout cept that book, witch i bleeve i wuz trine my best to feel better.

it dint matter nun. i lef fer wurk a'wundern the hole way whut could i eat without gittin sicker. turnt out it dint matter. i had a early meetin n while i wuz sittin in it, a cowurker ast me wuz i ok.

how is it everbidy kin see i am sick even when i am trine not to bleeve it my ownself?

dint matter whut i thought, ate, did. dint matter how much i tride to use willpower to keep frum gittin sick. the nausea gut to risin till i found myself gruntin over the bowl in the mens room n after vomitin once, thay wudnt no way to turn back.

so i cum home n sufferd lack crazy till the medicin let me sleep fer most of the day. when i gut up, i felt better, but evertime i git one of these thangs, i feel a lil hollow the nex day, witch thats how i feel now. i know frum eggsperients that twill be a ruff mornin but by the time i have lunch i should feel fine.

a lil while ago i red me a book name of The Four Agreements writ by a feller name of Don Miguel Ruiz. i aint gut too much to say bout it ceptn that tiz one of the best books i ever red fer makin a bidy feel better.

the four agreements is simple:
  • be impeccabull with yer speech
  • dont take thangs personull
  • dont make no assumpshuns
  • do yer best
i know that sound purty simple, but ifn ye read that book, read bout the importunts of yer word (in the beginning wuz the word n the word wuz with god n the word wuz god) n how tiz a sacred trust not to abuse it fer gossip or lyin or misleadin n such. tiz purty obveeus, but ifn ye try to foller along with that, not only in trine to keep frum misusin yer own speech but also trine not to be sucked into the misuse of speech others wonts to make, then ye git to feel better rite away.

but fer me, the secunt one is the best. mayhap that shows ye how i gut to hi a pinion of myself n whut others is thankin bout me, but ifn ye real eyes how most of whut other folks sez bout ye tells ye more bout them than it do bout you, ye git to feelin better.

i wont spoil the hole book for ye, but i stronly urge ye to give it a lil read. i know it has led to me feelin much better bout myself n my life everday since i red it.

New digital camera? Know how, where you can use it by a feller name of andrew kantor. this articull is quoted all over the place by folks claimin thar rite to take pitchers in publick. heres two of the points he makes:
  1. If you can see it, you can shoot it:
    Let's get the easy stuff out of the way. Aside from sensitive government buildings (e.g., military bases), if you're on public property you can photograph anything you like, including private property. There are some limits — using a zoom lens to shoot someone who has a reasonable expectation of privacy isn't covered — but no one can come charging out of a business and tell you not to take photos of the building, period.

    You can take photos any place that's open to the public, whether or not it's private property. A mall, for example, is open to the public. So are most office buildings (at least the lobbies). You don't need permission; if you have permission to enter, you have permission to shoot.
  2. Chances are you can publish it:
    Publishing photos has some different restraints, although they're civil, not criminal. Break one of these "rules" and, while you won't go to jail, you could find yourself on the short end of a lawsuit. (Although, according to the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, "the subject's remedy usually will not include the ability to bar the publication of the picture.")

    Revealing private facts about someone is a no-no. As the American Law Institute put it, "One who gives publicity to a matter concerning the private life of another is subject to liability to the other for invasion of his privacy, if the matter publicized is of a kind that A) would be highly offensive to a reasonable person, and B) is not of legitimate concern to the public."

    Here the private property issue comes a bit more into play. Publishing a recognizable photo of someone at an AA meeting could be a problem, even if that meeting is open to the public. (An elected official, perhaps, but not of Joe Citizen.)

    You also can find yourself in civil court if you publish a shot that places a person in a false light. That might be more of an issue with the caption than with the photo; running a shot of the mayor and his daughter labeled "Mayor meets with porn star" could land you in hot water. (Assuming his daughter isn't a porn star.)

    Finally, you can't use someone's likeness for a purely commercial purpose — using a photo of someone in an ad, for example. That isn't to say you can't publish a photo in a commercial environment, such as a newspaper or a blog that accepts ads. If the photo is being used in a news or artistic sense as opposed to a commercial one you're OK.

pitcher tuck by buddy don: how hot is it?

tiz so hot them geese is pantin lack they wuz dawgs! i tuck this here pitcher yesterdy whenever me n miz bd wuz waitin fer loretta n paddy to arrive fer dinner on the ferry frum man hattan. them geese let me git rite up on em, mayhap on a counta twuz too hot to fly.

innywho, we had us a verr nice dinner over at the madison restrunt, witch loretta n paddy had spent nigh onto two munths over in europe, manely in ireland n the czech republic, n they had em sum gifts fer us. miz bd gut a verr nice bracelet n they give me a bodhrán sos i kin make sum noise, mayhap even keep the beat to sum musick. corse, the best gift wuz the time they give us!
