pomes of buddy don: Sonnet Written on Hearing Sean Hannity is Outraged
Sonnet Written on Hearing Sean Hannity is Outraged by the Looting of a Walmart in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina
We wanted to leave on news of the storm
that was bearing down on our home town.
We knew that our only hope to survive
lay in finding us some higher ground.
But having no car, no bus and no train
and knowing of nowhere to go,
we stayed where we were and prayed to be spared
when we heard those cruel winds start to blow.
Now there's no water no shelter no food
and all that we owned is lost in the flood.
Yet we're being blamed for looting the walmart
for food that we eat as we crouch in the mud.
What have we learned from our loss and our shame?
That though we are victims, we still are to blame.
